Who We Are
Doppelplusultra Filmproduktion GmbH has been developing and producing television and cinema projects for German, European and international audiences since it was founded by Frank Müller and Kerstin Reich in Hamburg, 2000.
Focused on arthouse projects, our productions have received numerous awards, been shown at major festivals and have been successful in cinema.
What sets us apart
Distinctive, creative craftsmanship has always been our trademark. We hand-pick projects that are close to our hearts, and still produce and edit every image film, museum film and video clip in our own Hamburg editing studio.
We are always happy to pass on our many years of industry experience to young talents, and support colleagues in the development of their own film projects. On-site in Hamburg or as tutors for trailer development.
What is Doppelplusultra
We are often asked what Doppelplusultra actually means. It is derived from “Newspeak”, the fictional language of George Orwell’s Nineteen-Eighty-Four, which attempts to reduce complex concepts to their purest and simplest form.
In our film production, we also see our work in a kind of Newspeak, as we focus on what is essential in the form, composition and meaning of the content and images that we portray.
