Synopsis

It is a conflict between David and Goliath – Schedrub Ling, a unique Buddhist center in the Urals, is supposed to give way to the interests of EVRAZ, one of the largest steel producers in the world. The company wants to develop the mountain on which the Buddhist temple complex stands for an ore mining operation. The Buddhists, however, are offering civil resistance to the global player and the close ties between the economy and the state in Russia. The preservation of a spiritual place and a unique ecological habitat contrasts with economic profit and the preservation of jobs.
