Story of the film
This film is based on an idea by the Georgian pianist and Echo Award winner Khatia Buniatishvili. It was shot on two cold days in Hamburg in January 2011.
The shoot was a combination of film and a parallel photo session by Esther Haase Photographie, commissioned by Sony Music Entertainment.
In this music video, Khatia Buniatishvili plays Franz Liszt, Sonata in B minor. As Faust’s interpretation of the piece, she also takes on the roles of several characters.
The idea of Mephisto as a symbol of temptation and Magherita as a symbol of innocence represents the search for something immortal. Liszt united all these characters with his music.
The film was created using clips that were shot during the photoshoot and animated photo sequences.
