Background

“Life with Disabiltiy” has been a Hamburg association for people with disabilities for 60 years. The goal: “Participation in life in our city”.

In 2008, we were commissioned to document various projects as part of a series of events. In close cooperation with those involved, the aim was to show the possibilities and limitations of the practical implementation of various pilot phases over a period of several years.

Several films were produced in this context:

2008 Living like others,

2009 Vocational training for people with severe disabilities,

2010 We are Schanze,

2011 Personal Budget.

Over a long period of time, we laughed and cried together with the participants, explored boundaries and sought closeness. We saw places that we thought we already knew with new eyes and everything – completely barrier-free.
